I get up everyday humble and thankful for the life and the opportunity I have been given.
As I look around today American business continues to take advantage of the middle class American consumer.
Twelve years ago when I struggled with debt I thought I was the dummy. My wife and I had returned to college to complete our degrees and one night our car was repossessed because we were late on our payments. We were too ashamed to go to our families for help so we let them take it.
A couple of months later we got sued for the difference, being young and dumb, we sought an attorneys advice and ended up in chapter 7 bankruptcy. We paid for that mistake for 10 years. The pain and shame that we felt (although false)tore at the fabric of our relationship. It is a testament to my wife’s love that we are still married. I did not realize it at the time but this forced education on the subject of money set the stage for the crusade that we get up and fight everyday.
When
we teach “The ten things the banks,
credit card companies, mortgage companies, and credit reporting
agencies don’t want you to know about your money”
we are like no adversary these industries have ever known.
I don’t do it for the money! I want to put them out of business as they know it. I am not kidding! The credit card companies in America are the greatest cancer the American consumer has ever known.
I am not one of these idiots who believe that you shouldn’t use credit! I teach that money is a game and the first thing you have to do is realize you are playing a game and the second thing you have to do is learn some of the rules of the game so you can have a shot at winning.
We want to educate the American consumer because we think that there is a difference between ignorance (not knowing) and stupidity (doing it anyway). I also want the American consumer to understand that corporate morals and values have been replaced by quarterly profit and stock price and that the companies today will crush them to make a profit.
